My first steps starting the build of the model of the RNLB Solomon Browne.

Week 46, 2008
Last week I received the parcel with the hull, fitting parts and the lifeboat plans. So, now I have to study the detail odf the plans and make some arrangements
for getting actually started. I ordered these online from Models by Design which took over the model hulls part from Metcalf Mouldings.

I made a few photos when I received the hull and superstructure so you will get an idea how it looks like. Enjoy the photos.

Because of the moulding process where the deck is jointed to the hull almost at deck level where the rubber fender is going to be located, the edge is too wide. For this reason I have to reinforce the inside of the hull with glassfibre tape or P38 filler I think. I have to cut approx. 7 mm of the egde and hopefully the deck will not break while I'm doing this. So I will have to work very precisely.

The next thing is fit the motor parts, the rudder and the twin screws inside the hull. The best to do is to make a kind of woooden frame where the motor, servos, speed-controller and accus are going to be located. I think this will takes me of the street for a while. When I have finished with this I will post more photos of my progress.
