Let me introduce myself. I'm Johan van der Slik and I'm living in the Netherlands. I''m very interested in lifeboats especially the English type of lifeboats.

Now I decided (finally) to build my own model lifeboat at 1/12 scale.
I choosed for the 47 foot Watson type of lifeboat because it is my view being a 'real' lifeboat. However I could easily choose for a Mersey or Arun class type
of model lifeboat. But this 47 Watson type has my special interest.

Here are some pictures of the real one, some almost similar of the 47ft Watson type of lifeboat.

 

 

Before actually starting building this model I wanted to know the history of the model which I'm going to build, it will be the Solomon Browne. At that time the
Solomon Browne was stationed near Penlee in a village called Mousehole and this boat has its (tragic) history.

That is why I have made a seperate part which tells you more about the history of the Solomon Browne. It is good to read thios story so that you not forget
these boats are actually lifeboats and are intended to save lifes at sea !
